A Delhi-based lawyer, Advocate Harvinder Chowdhury, has filed a legal notice against Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi for his statements supporting Diljit Dosanjh’s film Sardaar Ji 3.
The notice was issued due to Jassi’s comments on the controversy surrounding the film, which has faced backlash and a ban in India for allegedly promoting separatist sentiments and hurting religious feelings. Jassi defended Diljit, stating that targeting a single artist is unfair and questioning why songs by Pakistani artists are not similarly banned or removed.
The lawyer’s notice claims Jassi’s remarks could create communal disharmony and demands a public apology within seven days, threatening further legal action if not complied with.

ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਵਕੀਲ, ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਹਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਚੌਧਰੀ, ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਗਾਇਕ ਜਸਬੀਰ ਜੱਸੀ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਿਲਜੀਤ ਦੋਸਾਂਝ ਦੀ ਫਿਲਮ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜੀ 3 ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਆਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਜੱਸੀ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਫਿਲਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਵਿਵਾਦਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖਵਾਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੇਸ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਾਬੰਦੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ। ਜੱਸੀ ਨੇ ਦਿਲਜੀਤ ਦਾ ਬਚਾਅ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸਿਰਫ ਇੱਕ ਕਲਾਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਗਲਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਕਲਾਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੀਤਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਪਾਬੰਦੀ ਜਾਂ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ।
ਵਕੀਲ ਦੇ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੱਸੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਸਦਭਾਵਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਤ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਨਤਕ ਮੁਆਫੀ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਅਗਲੇਰੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
