Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor C. Joseph Vijay has received major relief after his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, withdrew the divorce petition she had filed earlier this year before the Chengalpattu Family Court. The court subsequently closed the case.

CM ਜੋਸਫ਼ ਵਿਜੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗੀਤਾ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਤਲਾਕ ਦਾ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਖਤਮ, ਪਤਨੀ ਨੇ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਤੋਂ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਈ
ਤਾਮਿਲਨਾਡੂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਦਾਕਾਰ ਸੀ. ਜੋਸਫ਼ ਵਿਜੈ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਰਾਹਤ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਸੰਗੀਤਾ ਸੋਰਨਾਲਿੰਗਮ ਨੇ ਚੇਂਗਲਪੱਟੂ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਇਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਲਾਕ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਸੰਗੀਤਾ ਨੇ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸਿੰਗ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜੱਜ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹੁਣ ਤਲਾਕ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ। ਜੱਜ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਵਿਜੈ ਦੇ ਵਕੀਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਇਤਰਾਜ਼ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਸ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਇਹ ਤਲਾਕ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਫਰਵਰੀ 2026 ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਇਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਆਹੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਦੇ ਟੁੱਟਣ, ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਜੈ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਅਦਾਕਾਰਾ ਨਾਲ ਕਥਿਤ ਸਬੰਧਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੇ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਰਚਾ ਬਟੋਰੀ ਸੀ।
ਹੁਣ ਸੰਗੀਤਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈਣ ਨਾਲ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਕ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਸਮਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ, ਇਸ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਵਿਜੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਸੰਗੀਤਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਸਥਾਰਪੂਰਵਕ ਜਨਤਕ ਬਿਆਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Sangeetha appeared before the court through video conferencing and informed the judge that she no longer wished to pursue the divorce proceedings. After briefly interacting with her and confirming that the decision was voluntary, the court allowed the withdrawal. Since Vijay’s legal team did not object, the petition was dismissed as withdrawn.
The divorce petition had been filed in February 2026. It included allegations of marital breakdown, emotional separation and claims of an alleged extra-marital relationship involving Vijay, allegations that attracted widespread media attention.
With the withdrawal of the petition, the legal dispute between the couple has officially come to an end. Neither Vijay nor Sangeetha has issued a detailed public statement explaining the reasons behind the decision.
