Punjab News: ਨਾਰਕੋਟਿਕਸ ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਬਿਊਰੋ (NCB) ਨੇ ਨਸ਼ੀਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਸਕਰੀ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਬਦਨਾਮ ਤਸਕਰ ਸੰਦੀਪ ਚੱਠਾ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਜ਼ਰਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਸੰਦੀਪ ਚੱਠਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੀ ਬੁੜੈਲ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਜ਼ਰਬੰਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
NCB Detains Notorious Drug Smuggler Sandeep Chatha in Major Crackdown on International SyndicateChandigarh, January 7, 2026 — In a significant blow to cross-border drug trafficking networks, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has detained Sandeep Chatha, a resident of Amritsar, Punjab, described as a key operative in an international drug cartel.
Chatha has been lodged in Burail Jail, Chandigarh, under preventive detention as part of an intensified operation against narcotics smuggling.According to NCB sources, Chatha serves as a crucial link in a syndicate allegedly connected to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, Pakistan’s ISI associate Haji Yusuf, and the gang led by incarcerated gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria.
The detention follows fresh intelligence inputs aimed at disrupting heroin and other narcotic supply chains routed through Pakistan and Dubai.Chatha’s name had previously surfaced in drug-related investigations, including links to the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang. Officials say the action is part of broader efforts to dismantle organized trafficking rings operating in Punjab and beyond.
The NCB’s Chandigarh Zonal Unit led the operation, underscoring the agency’s commitment to curbing the menace of drug smuggling that has plagued border states like Punjab.
