14 ਦਸੰਬਰ 2025 ਨੂੰ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਿਡਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੌਂਡੀ ਬੀਚ ‘ਤੇ ਹਨੂਕਾ ਜਸ਼ਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇੱਕ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਹਮਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਪਿਤਾ ਸਾਜਿਦ ਅਕਰਮ (50) ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਵੀਦ ਅਕਰਮ (24) ਨੇ ਭੀੜ ‘ਤੇ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਚਲਾਈਆਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ 15 ਲੋਕ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ (ਇੱਕ ਬੱਚਾ ਸਮੇਤ) ਅਤੇ 40 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋਏ। ਇਹ ਹਮਲਾ ਇਸਲਾਮਿਕ ਸਟੇਟ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਜਿਦ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਤੇ ਹੀ ਗੋਲੀ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਦਕਿ ਨਵੀਦ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਮੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।ਇਸ ਹਫੜਾ-ਦਫੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਮਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੋਲਾ (34 ਸਾਲਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮੂਲ ਦਾ ਨਿਊਜ਼ੀਲੈਂਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਨਮੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਜਿੰਮ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਰ) ਨੇ ਅਦਭੁਤ ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ। ਉਹ ਕੇਬਾਬ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਡੁੱਬਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੀ (ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਟਾਕੇ ਸਮਝਿਆ)। ਭੱਜਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਉਹ ਖਤਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਦੌੜਿਆ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਜਿਦ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਲੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਲੱਤ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਹਮਲਾਵਰ ‘ਤੇ ਛਾਲ ਮਾਰੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ‘ਤੇ ਦਬੋਚਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਫੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਤੱਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਮਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”ਅਮਨਦੀਪ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਜਾਨਾਂ ਬਚਾਈਆਂ।
On December 14, 2025, a deadly terrorist attack occurred at Sydney’s Bondi Beach during a Hanukkah celebration. Two gunmen, father Sajid Akram (50) and son Naveed Akram (24), opened fire on crowds, killing 15 people (including a child) and injuring over 40 others. The attack was declared terrorism inspired by Islamic State. Sajid was shot dead by police at the scene, while Naveed was injured, later waking from a coma and facing multiple charges.Amid the chaos, Amandeep Singh Bola, a 34-year-old Punjabi-Sikh personal trainer of New Zealand origin (living in Australia), emerged as a hero. While eating a kebab and watching the sunset, he heard gunshots (initially mistaking them for firecrackers). Instead of fleeing, he ran toward the danger. Seeing police shoot Sajid Akram on a footbridge, Bola sprinted over, kicked the gun away, pounced on the wounded attacker, pinned him down, and restrained his arms until police secured him. He later recounted, “I could feel him dying under me” as he held the man.Bola’s actions, along with those of another bystander (Ahmed al-Ahmed, who tackled the second gunman and was injured), have been widely praised for preventing further harm. Bola, whose family roots trace to Punjab, India, said he was focused on helping people and stopping the threat.This story highlights extraordinary civilian bravery in a tragic event.
