US FDA Issues Strong Warning: Lead Leaching Detected in India-Made Aluminium Cookware
ਵਾਸ਼ਿੰਗਟਨ, 28 ਨਵੰਬਰ 2025 – ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੀ ਖੁਰਾਕ ਤੇ ਦਵਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ (US FDA) ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣੇ ਕਈ ਐਲੂਮੀਨੀਅਮ ਭਾਂਡਿਆਂ (ਕੜਾਹੀ, ਤਵੇ, ਪ੍ਰੈਸ਼ਰ ਕੁੱਕਰ) ਬਾਰੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਲੈਬ ਟੈਸਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਾਂਡਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਖਾਣਾ ਪਕਾਉਣ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਲੀਡ (ਸੀਸਾ) ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਖਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਸਦੀ ਹੈ, ਖ਼ਾਸਕਰ ਟਮਾਟਰ, ਨਿੰਬੂ ਜਾਂ ਸਿਰਕੇ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਪਕਾਉਣ ਸਮੇਂ।ਲੀਡ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਿਮਾਗ, ਗੁਰਦੇ ਤੇ ਖੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਵੱਡਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਬਿਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ, ਕੈਨੇਡਾ, ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਤੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਵਿਕ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਾਂਡ ਜਾਂ ਸਸਤੇ ਰੇਟ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।FDA ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਵਰਤਣੇ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸਟੇਨਲੈੱਸ ਸਟੀਲ, ਲੋਹੇ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਜਾਂ ਸਰਟੀਫਾਈਡ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਬ੍ਰਾਂਡ ਵਰਤੋ।ਭਾਰਤੀ ਨਿਰਮਾਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਬੂਤ ਦੇਣ ਲ ਆਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਹਨ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਖੇਪਾਂ ਰੋਕ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ।
Washington, 28 November 2025 – The United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) has issued an urgent consumer alert regarding certain aluminium cookware manufactured in India after laboratory tests revealed high levels of lead leaching into food during normal cooking.Samples of non-stick and plain aluminium kadhais, tawas, and pressure cookers imported from India were found to release dangerous amounts of lead, especially when used with acidic foods like tomatoes, lemon, or vinegar.
Prolonged exposure to lead can cause serious health issues including neurological damage, kidney problems, anemia, and developmental delays in children.“Lead has no safe exposure level. Even small amounts leaching from cookware over time can accumulate in the body and cause irreversible harm,” the FDA statement read.The affected products were primarily sold through ethnic grocery stores, online marketplaces, and small importers catering to South Asian communities in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. Many carry “Made in India” markings but lack proper certification for heavy-metal safety.
