Upon boarding, they reportedly found the business class cabin in poor condition, with unclean surroundings and damaged seating. After raising concerns, airline staff allegedly responded inappropriately, leading the trio along with several other passengers to deboard the flight in protest. They have since been waiting near the immigration area for over three hours without food, water, or any communication from Air India. Their passports have been retained, and their luggage remains unreturned.

The mistreatment of Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh, at Delhi Airport is “highly condemnable,” says acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj. Despite holding business class tickets, he was given damaged seating, subjected to misbehavior by Air India staff, and left waiting for hours without food, water, or access to his passport. Jathedar Gargaj has urged the Civil Aviation Ministry to take immediate action and ensure that respected religious figures are treated with the dignity they deserve.
ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਧਾਮੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਇਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਰਵਿਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਤਿਕਾਰਤ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਾਦਰ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਹਵਾਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਿੰਜਾਰਪੂ ਰਾਮਮੋਹਨ ਨਾਇਡੂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਦੀ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਜਾਂਚ ਮੰਗਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਦੁਰਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਏਅਰਲਾਈਨ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ ਜੋ ਦੇਸ਼ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਰਮਨਾਕ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਅਥਾਰਟੀ ਕੋਲ ਉਠਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੇ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਦੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
ਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਹੋਰ ਜਣਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੈਕਰਾਮੈਂਟੋ ਯੂਐੱਸਏ ਵਿਖੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅੱਜ ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਤੋਂ ਸੈਨ ਫ੍ਰਾਂਸਿਸਕੋ ਯੂਐੱਸਏ ਲਈ ਏਅਰ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਦੀ ਫਲਾਈਟ ਨੰਬਰ ਏਆਈ183 ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬਿਜ਼ਨਸ ਕਲਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਇਕਾਨਮੀ ਟਿਕਟ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਬੋਰਡ ਕੀਤਾ ਲੇਕਿਨ ਬਿਜ਼ਨਸ ਕਲਾਸ ਸੀਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਬੁਰਾ ਹਾਲ ਤੇ ਸਾਫ਼ ਸਫਾਈ ਦੇ ਪੱਖੋਂ ਨਿਮਨ ਪੱਧਰ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ, ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਤਰਾਜ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਮੌਕੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਏਅਰ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਟਾਫ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਦੁਰਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਦਾ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਠੀਕ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਰੋਸ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਆ ਕੇ ਟਰਮੀਨਲ ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਚੈੱਕ ਪੁਆਇੰਟ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਏ। ਏਅਰ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਿਜ਼ਨਸ ਕਲਾਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਹੇਠ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਟਾਫ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦੁਰਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਕਰੜੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਮਸਲੇ ਦਾ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਹੱਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਉੱਤੇ ਖੱਜਲ ਖੁਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਨਿੰਦਣਯੋਗ ਹੈ। ਏਅਰ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਾਸਪੋਰਟ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਪਰੰਤੂ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਨਾ ਸਾਡਾ ਸਮਾਨ ਵਾਪਸ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਏਅਰ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਾਊਂਟਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਣਯੋਗ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਹੈ।
Today, I, along with two others, was scheduled to travel from New Delhi to San Francisco, USA, on Air India flight number AI183, on a business class ticket, to participate in a Gurmat Samagam in Sacramento, USA. We boarded the plane, but the condition of the business class seats was extremely poor, and the cleanliness was substandard. I, along with some other passengers, raised objections about this.
Upon lodging complaints on the spot, the Air India staff members misbehaved, although the captain of the flight was speaking decently. Following this, I and some other passengers came off the plane in protest and sat outside near the terminal immigration checkpoint.
I strongly condemn the poor services being provided under the name of business class by Air India and the misbehavior of their staff, and I demand an immediate resolution to this issue with proper arrangements.
Additionally, we have been harassed at the airport for the past three hours, which is also highly condemnable. The immigration officers took our passports but have not contacted us since, nor have we received our luggage back, and no Air India official has reached out to us.
We have been sitting hungry and thirsty in front of the immigration counter for the past three hours — this treatment is utterly disgraceful.
