A British-born Sikh woman in her 20s was brutally raped and assaulted in a park near Tame Road, Oldbury, in a shocking daylight attack on September 9, 2025, around 8:30 AM. West Midlands Police are treating the incident as a racially aggravated hate crime after two white men allegedly shouted racist slurs, including “You don’t belong in this country” and “Go back to your country,” before carrying out the assault.The victim, whose identity is protected under UK law, was also physically beaten during the attack. In a statement released through Sikh Youth UK, she expressed gratitude for community support, saying, “I would never wish this on anyone. I am truly humbled by the love and support from my family, Sikh Youth UK, and local Gurdwara committees.” Police described the suspects as one man, approximately 6 feet tall with a stocky build, short dark hair, wearing a black jacket and jeans, and another, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, slim, with short light brown hair, wearing a grey hoodie and dark trousers. One suspect has been arrested, and the investigation continues with CCTV reviews and appeals for dashcam or doorbell footage.

ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ 9 ਸਤੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੇਰੇ 8:30 ਵਜੇ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਵਾਪਰੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਸਲੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਜਬਰ ਜਨਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਨਸਲੀ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਜਬਰ ਜਨਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਗੋਰਿਆਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਦੋ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੜਕੀ ਨੂੰ ‘ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾਓ’ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਮੈਦਵਿਕ ਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।
ਸੈਂਡਵੈੱਲ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਦੇ ਚੀਫ਼ ਸੁਪਰਡੈਂਟ ਕਿਮ ਮੈਡਿਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ: “ਅਸੀਂ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਡਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ। ਫੋਰੈਂਸਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸੀਸੀਟੀਵੀ ਜਾਂਚਾਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਦਿਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਾਧੂ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।”
ਉਸੇ ਦਿਨ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੇੜੇ ਦੇ ਵੈਸਟ ਬ੍ਰੋਮਵਿਚ ਦੇ ਕੇਨਰਿਕ ਪਾਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ 12:15 ਵਜੇ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਹਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮਿਲੀ। ਉਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਅਜੇ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹਮਲੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਪੱਛਮੀ ਮਿਡਲੈਂਡਜ਼ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।

West Midlands Police have increased patrols in Oldbury and are urging witnesses to contact them or Crimestoppers anonymously.
