Innocent Bystander Harsimrat Randhawa Killed by Stray Bullet
Hamilton Police are investigating a homicide after an innocent female bystander was struck by a stray bullet during gunfire on Upper James.She has been identified as Harsimrat Randhawa from India. Harsimrat was studying at Mohawk College and was standing at the bus stop on her way to work when she was killed.On April 17, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Hamilton Police received reports of a shooting near Upper James and South Bend Road. When police arrived, they found a 21-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was transported to hospital and later died from her injuries.
A 21 year old girl Harsimrat Randhawa, an Indian student at Mohawk College was killed during the firing between two groups in Hamilton. On the 16th of April, She was just waiting for the bus, when a bullet stray hit her. Sooner, she was admitted to the hospital but later succumbed to injuries.

ਟੋਰਾਂਟੋ – ਅੱਪਰ ਜੇਮਸ ‘ਤੇ ਗੋਲੀਬਾਰੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇੱਕ ਪੰਜਾਬਣ ਕੁੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਲੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੈਮਿਲਟਨ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਘਟਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਭਾਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਹਰਸਿਮਰਤ ਰੰਧਾਵਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਹਰਸਿਮਰਤ ਮੋਹਾਕ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਮ ‘ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਬੱਸ ਸਟਾਪ ‘ਤੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੀ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਦੀ ਹੱਤਿਆ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। 17 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ, 2025 ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਦੇ ਲਗਭਗ 7:30 ਵਜੇ, ਹੈਮਿਲਟਨ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਪਰ ਜੇਮਸ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਊਥ ਬੈਂਡ ਰੋਡ ਨੇੜੇ ਗੋਲੀਬਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਮਿਲੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ 21 ਸਾਲਾ ਲੜਕੀ ਦੀ ਛਾਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੋਲੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਨਾਲ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਪਾਇਆ । ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ

ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ 21 ਸਾਲਾ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ‘ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਬੱਸ ਸਟੈਂਡ ’ਤੇ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਕ ਕਾਰ ਸਵਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਚਲਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਹਰਸਿਮਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗੀ। ਹਰਸਿਮਰਤ ਰੰਧਾਵਾ ਹੈਮਿਲਟਨ ਓਨਟਾਰੀਓ ਦੇ ਮੋਹੌਕ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣ ਸੀ। ਭਾਰਤੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਣ ਦੀ ਛਾਤੀ ’ਤੇ ਗੋਲੀ ਲੱਗੀ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਹੈਮਿਲਟਨ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਮਰਸੀਡੀਜ਼ ਸਾਊਥ ਬੈਂਡ ਰੋਡ ਤੋਂ ਪੱਛਮ ਵੱਲ ਭੱਜ ਗਈ, ਜਦਕਿ ਸਫੈਦ ਸੇਡਾਨ ਅੱਪਰ ਜੇਮਸ ਸਟਰੀਟ ਵੱਲ ਉੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਗਈ। ਨੇੜੇ ਦੇ ਐਲਨਬੀ ਐਵੇਨਿਊ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਵੱਜੀਆਂ, ਜੋ ਵਸਨੀਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨੇੜਿਓਂ ਚੂਕ ਗਈਆਂ। ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੱਕੀ ਪਕੜਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਮ 7:15 ਤੋਂ 7:45 ਵਜੇ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਡੈਸ਼ਕੈਮ ਜਾਂ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਵੀਡੀਓਜ਼ ਮੰਗ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਵੀਡੀਓ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਜਾਂਚਕਰਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਾਲੇ ਰੰਗ ਦੀ ਮਰਸੀਡੀਜ਼ ਐਸਯੂਵੀ ਦੇ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਚਿੱਟੀ ਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਵਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਗੋਲੀ ਚਲਾਈ ਸੀ। ਗੋਲ਼ੀਬਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੇਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੋਹੇਂ ਚਾਲਕ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਫਰਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਐੱਲਨਬੀ ਐਵਿਨਿਊ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਖਿੜਕੀ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਫੁੱਟ ਦੀ ਦੂਰੀ ‘ਤੇ ਟੈਲੀਵਿਜ਼ਨ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਹਲਾਾਂਕਿ ਘਰ ’ਚ ਕੋਈ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਪਰ ਜੇਮਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਊਥ ਬੈਂਡ ਨੇੜੇ ਸ਼ਾਮ 7:15 ਵਜੇ ਤੋਂ 7:45 ਵਜੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਡੈਸ਼ਕੈਮ ਜਾਂ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੈਮਰੇ ਦੀ ਫੁਟੇਜ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਜੰਟ ਐਲੇਕਸ ਬਕ ਨਾਲ 905-546-4123 ’ਤੇ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ 2025 ਦੀ ਹੈਮਿਲਟਨ ਵਿੱਚ 11ਵੀਂ ਗੋਲੀਬਾਰੀ ਸੀ, ਜੋ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ 60 ਗੋਲੀਬਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਾਪਰੀ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਮੁਖੀ ਫਰੈਂਕ ਬਰਗਨ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ “ਬੇਸਮਝ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜ” ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦੂਕ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਮੇਅਰ ਐਂਡਰੀਆ ਹੋਰਵਾਥ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹਾਕ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਹਾਰਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਹਨਤੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ, ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਘੱਟ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੀ।
Harsimrat Randhawa, a 21-year-old international student from India studying at Mohawk College, was fatally shot on April 17, 2025, while waiting at a bus stop near Upper James Street and South Bend Road in Hamilton, Ontario. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. when gunfire erupted between two vehicles—a black Mercedes SUV and a white sedan. Surveillance video indicates a passenger in the Mercedes fired multiple shots at the sedan, one of which struck Randhawa in the chest, killing her. She was an innocent bystander on her way to work.
Hamilton Police report the Mercedes fled west on South Bend Road, while the white sedan headed north on Upper James Street. Additional bullets struck a nearby home on Allenby Avenue, narrowly missing residents. No suspects have been identified, and police are seeking dashcam or security footage from 7:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. in the area.
The shooting, Hamilton’s 11th of 2025, follows a record 60 shootings in 2024. Police Chief Frank Bergen called it a “senseless act of violence,” urging community action against gun violence. Mayor Andrea Horwath and Mohawk College expressed devastation, offering condolences to Randhawa’s family. Her relative, Simran Singh, described her as quiet and hardworking, noting she had been in Canada less than two years.
