MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira PSO Arrested : ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲਾਂ ਵਧ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਦਰਅਸਲ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਦਾ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ (PSO) ਜੋਗਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਤੋਂ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮਿਲੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਜੋਗਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਫਾਜ਼ਿਲਕਾ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਤਸਕਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੋਗਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਫਾਜ਼ਿਲਕਾ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਲ 2015 ਦੇ ਦਰਜ ਇੱਕ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਤਸਕਰੀ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ’ਚ ਲੋੜੀਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਫਾਜ਼ਿਲਕਾ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਰਕੀਟ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਢਿੱਲਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਸਣੇ 9 ਜਨਿਆ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਮੁਕੱਦਮਾ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ । ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦਾਅਵੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ 2 ਕਿਲੋ ਹੈਰੋਇਨ , 24 ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਬਿਸਕੁਟ , 2 ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਸਿਮ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਟਾਟਾ ਸਫ਼ਰੀ ਗੱਡੀ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਜੋਗਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਅ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ ।
ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਐਸਆਈਟੀ ਵੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਸੀਪੀ ਸਵਪਨ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਗਿੱਛ ਲਈ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਖਹਿਰਾ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ’ਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਲਿੰਕ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਆਏ ਹਨ।
Joga Singh, the former Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, was arrested by Punjab Police at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on August 9, 2025, in connection with a 2015 drug trafficking case. The arrest was executed by Fazilka Police after Joga Singh, an assistant sub-inspector, was detained by immigration authorities due to a look-out circular issued in November 2023. He was attempting to flee to Australia and had been absconding since being named an accused on September 28, 2023. The case involves the 2015 seizure of 2 kg of heroin, 24 gold biscuits, and other items, with nine individuals initially arrested. Joga Singh’s role allegedly included facilitating communication between Khaira and convicted drug smuggler Gurdev Singh and his UK-based sister, Charanjit Kaur. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated the arrest is a significant step in the anti-drug campaign, while Khaira claims it’s a politically motivated move by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to tarnish his reputation. Khaira, previously arrested in 2023 in the same case but granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in January 2024, asserts that a Supreme Court stay on April 10, 2024, halts proceedings against him
