AHS ਦੇ Executive Officer ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ 28 ਅਗਸਤ 2026 ਨੂੰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਜਾਂਚ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਰਸੋਈ, ਅਲਮਾਰੀਆਂ, ਕਾਊਂਟਰਾਂ, ਸਟੋਰੇਜ ਕਮਰਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਜਾਰੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਬਣੇ Food Storage Area ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਖਾਣਾ ਮੱਖੀਆਂ, ਚੂਹਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੇਂਗਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਸ਼ਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਸ਼ਿਤ ਮਿਲਿਆ। Closure Order 31 ਅਗਸਤ 2026 ਨੂੰ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। Alberta Health Services ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਤ ਹੁਕਮ
ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੂਹਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਸਬੂਤ, ਆਲ੍ਹਣੇ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਚੂਹਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਿੱਲ ਮਿਲੇ। ਰਸੋਈ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡਿਆਂ, ਟਰੇਆਂ, ਬਿਸਤਰਿਆਂ, ਕੰਬਲਾਂ, ਅਲਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਮਾਨ ਉੱਪਰ ਵੀ ਚੂਹਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੱਖੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ basement ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਊਂਦੀਆਂ ਕੀੜੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ।
ਜਾਂਚ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ Dishwasher ਭਾਂਡਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਢੁੱਕਵੇਂ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ Sanitise ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਗਿੱਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੰਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ Food Preparation Tables ਉੱਪਰ ਪਏ ਸਨ, Cutting Boards ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ Washroom ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਲੀ ਵਰਗਾ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਵੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਸੰਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਖਾਮੀਆਂ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿਹਤ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੱਕ Food Establishment ਬੰਦ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
A food establishment operated by the Bhartiya Cultural Society of Alberta in Edmonton has been ordered to close after public-health inspectors reported extensive pest activity, contaminated food and serious sanitation problems throughout the facility.
According to an official closure order issued by Alberta Health Services (AHS), the food facility is located at 9507 39 Avenue NW, Edmonton. The premises were inspected on August 28, 2026, and the closure order was dated August 31, 2026.
The health authority said food stored in the main kitchen, cupboards, storage rooms, basement common area and the priests’ private food-storage area was allegedly contaminated by flies, mouse droppings and urine. Inspectors also reported unsanitary surfaces and possible cross-contamination involving other food ingredients.
Evidence of a mouse infestation was allegedly found across the facility, including on or around floors, walls, food-storage shelves, utensils, trays, pots, pans, bedding, blankets, cabinets, counters, mixers and dishwashing equipment. Mouse holes were also reportedly discovered in the staircase, baseboards, corners and storage rooms.
Inspectors said several species of flies were present in the kitchens, washrooms, common areas and storage rooms. Live ants were also reportedly observed in the basement.
The AHS order listed several additional concerns. Staff or volunteers reportedly rinsed pots and food equipment before use without completing a proper sanitising step. The mechanical dishwasher was not sanitising effectively, while pink and orange material had accumulated inside it.
Wet and dirty cleaning cloths were allegedly left on food-preparation tables. Some cutting boards were described as dirty, damaged or separating, while metal sieves and baskets reportedly had broken or missing mesh. Inspectors also found an apron heavily covered with grime.
The inspection further identified accumulated food debris, grease and dirt on kitchen equipment, cupboards, drawers, counters, refrigerators, freezers and ventilation filters. Public washrooms and common areas were also described as poorly maintained. A non-functioning tap, an out-of-order toilet and a thick mould-like substance in parts of the women’s washroom and chemical-storage area were among the other reported problems.
AHS concluded that these conditions could endanger public health or interfere with disease prevention. The food establishment must remain closed until the identified violations are corrected and health officials permit it to reopen. The order relates specifically to the food establishment and its sanitary conditions; it should not be interpreted as an allegation against Hindu worshippers generally.
