Canadian Border Officer Sues India Over ‘Propaganda Machine’ SmearVancouver, Dec. 3, 2025 – Sandeep Singh Sidhu, a veteran Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) superintendent known as “Sunny,” has filed a lawsuit alleging he was targeted by an Indian government disinformation campaign that falsely branded him a “dreaded terrorist” and Khalistani extremist.
Sidhu, a B.C.-born officer with no ties to Indian politics or the Sikh separatist movement, appeared in minor roles on the TV show Border Security: Canada’s Front Line. Indian media outlets, including TV anchors reaching millions, accused him of being a “Trudeau tax-funded terrorist” and “assassin,” using inflammatory banners like “Kanada rewards assassin.”
The claims surfaced amid heightened Canada-India tensions following Ottawa’s allegations of Indian involvement in the 2023 assassination of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, B.C.
