ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਦੇ ਵੁਲਵਰਹੈਂਪਟਨ ਰੇਲਵੇ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਨੇੜੇ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਨੇ ਦੋ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਟੈਕਸੀ ਚਾਲਕਾਂ ਸਤਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ (64) ਅਤੇ ਜਸਬੀਰ ਸੰਘਾ (72) ’ਤੇ ਹਿੰਸਕ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਹਮਲਾਵਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸਲੀ ਅਪਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਹੇ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ’ਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਦੀ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਵੀ ਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਹ ਘਟਨਾ ਇਸ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਰੀ। ਪੁਲੀਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਨਸਲੀ ਹਮਲੇ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਬਰਤਾਨਵੀ ਟਰਾਂਸਪੋਰਟ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਹਮਲੇ ਦੇ ਸਬੰਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ’ਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਲੜਕੇ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ 17 ਸਾਲ ਜਦਕਿ ਦੋ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ 19 ਤੇ 25 ਸਾਲ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਅਗਲੇਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਤੱਕ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ’ਤੇ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹਮਲੇ ਦੇ ਪੀੜਤ ਸਦਮੇ ’ਚ ਹਨ। ਹਮਲੇ ’ਚ ਜਸਬੀਰ ਸੰਘਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਪਸਲੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਦਕਿ ਸਤਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਕੇ ਤੇ ਲੱਤਾਂ ਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਸਤਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਧੱਕਾ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਲੱਗਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਹਮਲੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਜਬਰੀ ਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘ਮੈਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਲਹਿ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੰਝ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵਾਂ।’ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਦਾ ਬਚਾਅ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਘਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਹਮਲਾਵਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਢਿੱਡ ’ਚ ਮੁੱਕੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ। ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਵੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਸੀ।’ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋ ਮਹਿਲਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਮਲਾ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਦਖਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ’ਚ ਇਕ ਮੁਟਿਆਰ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਦੂਜੀ ਅੱਧਖੜ। ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਗੋਰੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਸੰਘਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ, ‘ਸਾਡੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਲੋਕ ਹਮਲਾਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਰੌਲਾ ਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਮੈਂ ਬਚਾਅ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।’

On August 15, 2025, two elderly Sikh taxi drivers, Satnam Singh (64) and Jasbir Sangha (72), were violently assaulted outside Wolverhampton Railway Station in the UK in what police are investigating as a racially aggravated hate crime. The attack, captured on video and viewed over a million times on social media, occurred around 1:45 PM BST. Three white males, aged 17, 19, and 25, approached Singh, demanding a ride to Oldbury and using racist language, including the P-word. When Singh explained the taxi rank system, the group became abusive, pushed him to the ground, and punched him, causing his turban to be removed—a deeply disrespectful act in Sikhism. Sangha, who attempted to intervene, was also attacked, suffering two broken ribs and severe bruising. Both men feared for their lives, with Singh stating,
“I thought I was dead,” and Sangha describing the attack as terrifying and life-threatening.The British Transport Police arrested the three suspects, who were later released on bail pending further investigation. The Sikh Federation UK criticized the police for delayed follow-up, noting that victim statements were only taken after the video went viral, and no victim support was provided within 48 hours despite CCTV footage and witness accounts. Public intervention during the attack was praised, with bystanders shouting at the attackers and aiding the victims. Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal and Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring condemned the attack, urging the UK government and Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to address the safety of the Sikh diaspora. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, highlighting concerns over rising anti-Sikh hate crimes in the UK, with calls for stronger action against such racially motivated violence
