Guru Randhawa deactivated his X account following significant backlash over a cryptic post perceived as a veiled criticism of Diljit Dosanjh amid the controversy surrounding the film Sardaar Ji 3. The controversy stems from the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film, which has sparked outrage in India due to heightened tensions with Pakistan following the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack.

This country made great artists, and we all are proud of it. Please be proud of where you were born. Just an advice. Now don’t start controversy again and manipulate Indians LOL. PR bigger thn artist.” Another post read, “When the PR team is more talented than the talent itself, controversies become part of the daily routine. The day is near when our people will open their eyes and know the truth. LOL. 1st of every month, dropping bombs. God bless the fake PR and the artists.” Many netizens interpreted these as jabs at Dosanjh, accusing Randhawa of fueling controversy for publicity, while some supported his call for national pride.
The backlash included criticism from Dosanjh’s fans, with comments like “Grow up, Guru” and accusations of hypocrisy, referencing Randhawa’s own work involving Pakistani themes, such as his film Shahkot or songs mentioning Lahore. Faced with intense online criticism, Randhawa deactivated his X account without explanation, leaving fans confused.
Meanwhile, Sardaar Ji 3, shot before the Pahalgam attack, will not release in India but is scheduled for an overseas release on June 27, 2025. Dosanjh clarified in a BBC Asian Network interview that the film was completed in February 2025, before tensions escalated, and supported the producers’ decision for an international release due to significant financial investment. The film’s trailer was removed from YouTube in India amid the uproar.
