Human remains found at Hamilton landfill during search for missing Shalini Singh
Hamilton police say human remains have been located at the landfill site where investigators have spent months searching for the body of Shalini Singh, a 40-year-old woman who was reported missing by her family back in December.
Speaking at a news conference on Thursday morning, police said the partial human remains were located after police spent nearly three months combing through thousands of cubic metres of waste at the Glanbrook Landfill, located on Haldibrook Road in Hamilton

ਹੈਮਿਲਟਨ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਗਲੈਨਬਰੂਕ ਲੈਂਡਫਿਲ, ਹੈਲਡੀਬਰੂਕ ਰੋਡ ‘ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਲਿਨੀ ਸਿੰਘ, 40 ਸਾਲਾ ਔਰਤ ਜੋ ਦਸੰਬਰ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਲਾਪਤਾ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ, ਦੀ ਲਾਸ਼ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅੰਸ਼ਕ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਵਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਲੱਭਣ ਦੀ ਖਬਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਅਵਸ਼ੇਸ਼ 21 ਮਈ, 2025 ਨੂੰ 5,000 ਘਣ ਮੀਟਰ ਦੇ ਟਾਰਗੇਟ ਜ਼ੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਭੇ ਗਏ, ਜੋ ਕਿ 24 ਫਰਵਰੀ, 2025 ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਈ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ ਤਿੰਨ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੈ।
ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀ ਹੋਮੀਸਾਈਡ ਯੂਨਿਟ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਲਿਨੀ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਡਾਊਨਟਾਊਨ ਅਪਾਰਟਮੈਂਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੱਤਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਕੂੜੇ ਦੇ ਚੂਟ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਠਿਕਾਣੇ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਜੀਪੀਐਸ ਟਰੈਕਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਵੇਲੈਂਸ ਫੁਟੇਜ ਨੇ ਜਾਂਚਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈਂਡਫਿਲ ਵੱਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗਏ। ਅਵਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸ਼ਾਲਿਨੀ ਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਲਈ ਡੀਐਨਏ ਟੈਸਟਿੰਗ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਫਤੇ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।

Hamilton police have discovered partial human remains at the Glanbrook Landfill on Haldibrook Road during their search for Shalini Singh, a 40-year-old woman reported missing by her family on December 10, 2024.
The remains were found on May 21, 2025, within a 5,000 cubic meter target zone after nearly three months of searching, which began on February 24, 2025. The homicide unit suspects Singh was killed in her downtown apartment and disposed of through the building’s garbage chute, with GPS tracking and surveillance footage leading investigators to the landfill.
DNA testing is underway to confirm if the remains belong to Singh, a process that may take weeks. Singh’s family has been informed and is receiving support from the police Victim Services Unit.
