Road construction work has been underway on the Vikaspuri Ring Road for the past several days. The local MLA, Jarnail Singh, had been pressuring PWD engineers to introduce him to the contractor and arrange for a commission for him; he had been making this demand for quite some time. Our engineer has lodged a complaint at the police station and is getting an FIR registered.
Because Jarnail Singh did not receive any commission, he would go to the site in the morning—after the road was laid at night—and tear it up; he would then record and post videos claiming that corruption was taking place. Today, while passing through that route, I told the engineers that I wanted to inspect the work myself. When I stopped and examined the site, I saw that the work was progressing very well. Local residents told me that this road had not been built for 15 years; it was finally being constructed after a decade and a half… I personally called the local MLA, Jarnail Singh, three times.
I waited for him for 45 minutes. I had not called any of our own party workers to the site. When Jarnail Singh arrived, he came with his own workers who had been informed in advance, and he immediately began behaving rudely. When one of his workers started hurling abuses at my family, I reacted just as anyone would in the heat of the moment. I want to tell the Aam Aadmi Party that our government is doing today what you failed to accomplish; that is why it is causing you such heartburn…”

ਤਿਲਕ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣ ਰਹੀ ਸੜਕ ਦਾ ਜਾਇਜ਼ਾ ਲੈਣ ਸਮੇਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਪਰਵੇਸ਼ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ‘ਆਪ’ (AAP) ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਤਿੱਖੀ ਬਹਿਸ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਈ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇਹ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੜਕ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਦੀ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਬਣਾ ਰਹੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਥੱਪੜ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਮੰਤਰੀ ਵਰਮਾ ਸੜਕ ਦੇ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਜਦੋਂ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਏ। ‘ਆਪ’ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਨੇ ਸੜਕ ਦੀ ਗੁਣਵੱਤਾ ’ਤੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਚੁੱਕਦਿਆਂ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਕੰਮ ਤੈਅ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਮਿਆਰਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ।

ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੜਕ ਦੀ ਪਰਤ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਖਾੜ ਕੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ। ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਧਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿੱਖੀ ਬਹਿਸ ਛਿੜ ਗਈ।
ਇਸ ਹੰਗਾਮੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇੱਕ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਫ਼ੋਨ ’ਤੇ ਇਸ ਬਹਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਸੜਕ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਦੀ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਦੋਸ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਪਰਵੇਸ਼ ਵਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਥੱਪੜ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਕੈਮਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਕੈਦ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ‘ਆਪ’ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਪਰਵੇਸ਼ ਵਰਮਾ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਮੋਰਚਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਦਿੱਲੀ ‘ਆਪ’ ਇਕਾਈ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਸੌਰਭ ਭਾਰਦਵਾਜ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੀ ਆੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੁੱਟਮਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਸੌਰਭ ਭਾਰਦਵਾਜ ਨੇ ਐਕਸ (X) ’ਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ, “@p_sahibsingh ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਨਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਇਰਤਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ। ਪੁਲੀਸ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਲੁਕ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਟਮਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਜੋ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਕੋਈ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ, ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ।”
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਘਟੀਆ ਮਿਆਰ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੋਲ ਖੋਲ੍ਹੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਭਾਰਦਵਾਜ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ, “ਆਪਣੀ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਹਟਾ ਕੇ ਦਿਖਾਓ, ਫਿਰ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਹੋ। ਬਿਨਾਂ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੱਥੋਪਾਈ ਕਰਕੇ ਦਿਖਾਓ।”
