Opium Found in Parcel from Firozpur to USA
ਫਿਰੋਜ਼ਪੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ‘ਚ ਭੇਜੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਰਸਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਫੀਮ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਖਬਰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਈ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਅਫੀਮ ਫਿਰੋਜ਼ਪੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਕੈਲੀਫੋਰਨੀਆ (ਅਮਰੀਕਾ) ਭੇਜੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਰਸਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਹ ਬਰਾਮਦਗੀ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟੋਰੇਟ ਆਫ਼ ਰੈਵੇਨਿਊ ਇੰਟੈਲੀਜੈਂਸ (ਡੀਆਰਆਈ) ਜ਼ੋਨਲ ਯੂਨਿਟ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਡੀਆਰਆਈ ਨੇ 10.3 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ 735 ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਅਫੀਮ ਜ਼ਬਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਡੀਆਰਆਈ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਸ ਖੁਫੀਆ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮਿਲੀ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਰਸਲ ‘ਚ ਐਨਡੀਪੀਐਸ ਐਕਟ 1985 ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਸ਼ੀਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਲੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਭੇਜੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ‘ਤੇ, ਡੀਆਰਆਈ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਟੀਮ ਨੇ ਡੀਐਚਐਲ ਐਕਸਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਢਾਂਧਾਰੀ ਕਲਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਰਸਲ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਿਆ।
ਪਾਰਸਲ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਨ ‘ਤੇ, ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਫੀਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਚਾਰ ਪੈਕੇਟ ਮਿਲੇ। ਹਰੇਕ ਪੈਕੇਟ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਰਬਨ ਪੇਪਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਪੇਟਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਟੇਪ ਨਾਲ ਸੀਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਪੈਕੇਟ ਇੱਕ ਰਜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਪੈਕੇਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਛੇਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਡੀਆਰਆਈ ਨੇ ਐਨਡੀਪੀਐਸ ਐਕਟ, 1985 ਦੀਆਂ ਧਾਰਾਵਾਂ ਤਹਿਤ ਅਫੀਮ ਜ਼ਬਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਜਾਂਚ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ।
Opium Seizure: 735 Grams Recovered from US-Bound Parcel Booked in Firozpur
Ludhiana, November 16, 2025 – In a significant crackdown on international drug smuggling, officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Ludhiana Zonal Unit intercepted a suspicious parcel at Dhandari Kalan, Ludhiana, recovering 735 grams of opium hidden inside. The parcel, booked from Firozpur in Punjab, was destined for California, USA, highlighting yet another attempt to traffic narcotics via international courier services.
Acting on specific intelligence about a parcel violating the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, DRI officials zeroed in on the consignment during routine scanning and inspection procedures. A thorough examination revealed four meticulously concealed packets of opium, each individually wrapped in carbon paper and sealed with transparent tape to evade detection. These packets were ingeniously hidden within a quilt, where a small opening had been created to stash the contraband without arousing suspicion.
