ਅਮਰੀਕੀ President Donald Trump ਨੇ Canada ਨਾਲ ਵਧਦੇ Trade Tensions ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਵੱਡਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ 1 January 2027 ਤੋਂ Canada ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣੀਆਂ Cars, ਛੋਟੇ-ਵੱਡੇ Trucks, Automotive Parts ਅਤੇ Steel ਦੀ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ Import ਉੱਤੇ Tariff ਵਧਾ ਕੇ 50% ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
Trump ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ Social Media statement ਵਿੱਚ Canada ਉੱਤੇ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ America ਨਾਲ unfair trade ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ Canada ਵੱਲੋਂ American Vehicles ਅਤੇ Agricultural Products ਉੱਤੇ ਲਗਾਈਆਂ ਪਾਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ Duties ਕਾਰਨ U.S. Businesses ਅਤੇ Workers ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ ਨਵੀਂ Warning ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਈ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ Trade Negotiations ਕਿਸੇ ਸਮਝੌਤੇ ਤੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕੀਆਂ। Trump ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੇ Canadian Companies ਇਸ Tariff ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ Manufacturing America ਵਿੱਚ Shift ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਸਮੇਂ America ਵਿੱਚ Import ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਕਈ Canadian Vehicles ਅਤੇ Auto Parts ਉੱਤੇ 25% ਤੱਕ Tariff ਲਾਗੂ ਹੈ। Trump ਦੀ ਨਵੀਂ ਧਮਕੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਹ Rate ਵਧਾ ਕੇ 50% ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। Canadian Steel ਉੱਤੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ 50% Levy ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਹੈ।
Canada ਦੇ Prime Minister Mark Carney ਨੇ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ Economic Interests ਅਤੇ Canadian Workers ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਜਵਾਬੀ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕੇਗੀ। Canada ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੁਝ American Products ਉੱਤੇ Retaliatory Tariffs ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
Auto Industry Experts ਮੁਤਾਬਕ America ਅਤੇ Canada ਦੀ Vehicle Supply Chain ਬਹੁਤ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇੱਕ-ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਕਈ Vehicles ਦੇ Parts Production ਦੌਰਾਨ Border ਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ Cross ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ 50% Tariff ਨਾਲ ਸਿਰਫ਼ Canadian Companies ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ American Automakers, Dealers ਅਤੇ Consumers ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
Experts ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ Tariff ਸਰਹੱਦ ਉੱਤੇ American Importer ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। Companies ਇਹ ਵਧਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ Cost Customers ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ America ਵਿੱਚ Cars ਅਤੇ Trucks ਦੀਆਂ Prices ਵਧਣ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਇਹ 1 January 2027 ਲਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ Tariff Warning ਹੈ। ਇਸਨੂੰ Final Implementation ਮੰਨਣਾ ਜਲਦਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨਵੀਂ Negotiation ਜਾਂ Agreement ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਸ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
