A UK court has sentenced Gagandeep Singh (34) of Wandsworth, London, to 34 years in prison after he was convicted of kidnapping, torturing and raping a 24-year-old woman. He was found guilty of two counts of rape, kidnapping, false imprisonment and causing grievous bodily harm.

ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ (34) ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ 24 ਸਾਲਾ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਦੇ ਅਗਵਾ, ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ ਅਤੇ ਬਲਾਤਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ 34 ਸਾਲ ਕੈਦ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਬਲਾਤਕਾਰਾਂ, ਅਗਵਾ ਕਰਨ, ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਬੰਧਕ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਜੂਨ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਪੀੜਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਥਾਈਲੈਂਡ ਤੋਂ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਇੱਕ ਅਣਪਛਾਤੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੂਟਕੇਸ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਸ਼ੱਕ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਬਰਮਿੰਘਮ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਤਾਂ ਨਕਾਬਪੋਸ਼ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਠਾ ਕੇ ਲੰਡਨ ਦੇ ਹੈਨਵੈਲ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਗਏ।
ਉੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ 24 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਬੰਧਕ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਬਲਾਤਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਰਹਿਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੁੱਟਿਆ, ਕੱਪੜੇ ਉਤਾਰ ਕੇ ਕੋੜੇ ਮਾਰੇ, ਸਾੜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ ਕੀਤਾ। ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਮਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਦੱਸੇ।
ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੀੜਤਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਦੱਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਰੱਖੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਫੋਰੈਂਸਿਕ ਜਾਂਚ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਡੀਐਨਏ ਨੇ ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ 34 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 28 ਸਾਲ ਕੈਦ ਅਤੇ 6 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਵਧੀਕ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਮਿਆਦ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੈ। ਸਜ਼ਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਡਿਪੋਰਟ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ
The case began in June 2024 when the woman was asked to transport a suitcase containing unknown items from Thailand to the UK. Becoming suspicious, she refused. When she arrived at Birmingham Airport, masked men allegedly forced her into a car and drove her to a house in Hanwell, West London.
At the house, she was held captive for more than 24 hours, repeatedly assaulted, tortured and raped twice by Singh. The court heard she was punched, beaten, stripped, whipped and burned before being released and threatened not to tell anyone.
The victim later disclosed the attack to her mother, who preserved her clothing and medical records. Forensic testing produced a “one in a million” DNA match linking Singh to the crimes, helping secure his conviction.
The sentence consists of 28 years in custody and a 6-year extended licence period. Authorities say Singh will be deported from the UK after serving his sentence and will have no right to return.
